Standards
How we research, write and correct our guides.
Gold purchases and retirement rollovers are hard to undo, so every page on GoldInvesting is held to the standards below. Barcelia LLC, our parent company, is responsible for what we publish.
What we’re for
We want people buying gold to know the price, the costs and the rules before they hand over money. Everything we publish should help with one of those three.
Sourcing
We take facts from the organization that sets them: mints and refiners for products, the IRS and the tax code for rules, exchanges and the LBMA for standards, regulators for warnings, and companies for their own terms. Each guide lists its sources at the end. If a source can’t be opened or a figure is unclear, the claim stays out.
How guides are written
- Each guide answers the question its title asks, in the first paragraph.
- Claims a company makes about itself are credited to that company.
- Costs, price swings and the lack of any guarantee are stated plainly.
- Any past price comes with the reminder that past performance doesn’t guarantee future results.
- We don’t forecast prices, use fear to sell, invent experts or testimonials, or claim credentials we don’t have.
- Worked examples use round, clearly hypothetical numbers.
How we use technology
We use software, including AI research and writing assistants, to help gather sources, draft pages and check our work. Every page is checked against its primary sources before it goes live, and Barcelia LLC is responsible for every word we publish.
Review and updates
We review a guide whenever the rules, products or prices it describes change, and at least once a year. Each guide shows the date it last changed.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as we can confirm it. A correction that changes a figure or a rule is noted at the end of the guide with the date. To report an error, email hello@goldinvesting.app with the page and, if you have it, the source.
Independence
We’re paid when readers we refer to Augusta Precious Metals ask for its information or become customers. Augusta doesn’t review, approve or edit our guides, and no company can pay to change what we write about it. Our calculators give the same answer no matter who pays us. Paid links are labeled for readers and marked as sponsored for search engines. How we’re paid has the detail.
