Accessibility
Built to be easy to read.
Many of our readers are in their fifties, sixties and seventies, and some read on a phone held at arm’s length. The site is built with that in mind.
What’s built in
- Text starts at 20 pixels, larger than most sites, and uses Libre Franklin, a plain newspaper typeface.
- Text colours are chosen to meet the contrast level in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, including the gold we use for prices.
- Every page works with a keyboard. A “Skip to content” link comes first, and the item you’re on is clearly outlined.
- Menus open on click or tap as well as on hover, and close with the Escape key.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the small effects on the site switch off.
- Nothing plays sound or video on its own, and there are no pop-ups or countdown timers.
- Calculator results are announced to screen readers as they change.
- Pages work at any zoom level and on screens as narrow as a small phone.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We check new pages against it, but we don’t claim every page meets every point yet.
Tell us what isn’t working
If something is hard to read, hard to reach with a keyboard or doesn’t work with your screen reader, email hello@goldinvesting.app with the page and what happened. We’ll fix it or send you the information another way.
